Gladys “Pickie” Fontoni

Gladys E. Fontoni, 90 of Braintree, fondly known to family and friends as Aunt Pickie, died peacefully at home, surrounded by family, after a recent period of failing health.  Born in Quincy, she lived in the family home for 89 years.

Gladys was pre-deceased in death by her brother James and wife Betty Fontoni of Braintree, sister Irene and husband Don Lagasse of Wareham, brother Joseph (Bud) Fontoni of Braintree, sister Doris Litchfield of Braintree, brother-in-laws John Parsons of Florida and Doug Acton of Rhode Island.  Gladys is survived by her three sisters Marie Acton of Rhode Island, Marge Parsons of Florida and Joan Fontoni of Braintree, her niece Kim Thalacker and granddog Mudslide II of Braintree and niece Donna Bates of Stoughton.  She is also survived by 12 nieces and nephews, 16 great nieces and nephews and 5 great great nieces.

A graduate of Braintree High School, she held jobs at the Fore River Ship Yard in Quincy, Stetson Shoe in Weymouth and Merimans in Hingham before retiring.  In earlier years, she enjoyed traveling with friends.  Her favorite times were summers on the Cape with family, in fact the more crowded with family the better.  She was often on the porch playing cards with all of us kids through the years.  She enjoyed all of the Boston/New England sports teams, getting to games for each team after she retired.  She was a faithful season ticket holder of the New England Revolution, even making it to their last playoff game after Thanksgiving.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital).

Funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 AM in McDonald Keohane Funeral Home.
