Gladys L. Camara

Camara, Gladys L. (Creamer) “Penny”, 81, of Weymouth, passed away peacefully at home on August 5, 2023. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Born on May 26, 1942, she grew up in the “Happy Valley” neighborhood of Lynn, MA. A graduate of Lynn English High School, Penny was employed at the Essex County Courthouse. On July 18, 1964, she wed the love of her life, Alexander “Al” Camara, and they recently celebrated their 59^th wedding anniversary surrounded by family. She was an active volunteer as a cub scout, brownie and girl scout den leader, CCD teacher and PTA member. She was an officer of Jet Products Inc. in East Bridgewater for many years and had been a licensed agent with South Shore Realtors. Al and Penny enjoyed annual trips to Saint Marten, summered at their cottage in Maine, and took vacations to Aruba, Hawaii and Portugal.

She joins her parents, Joseph and Thelma Creamer and her dear sister Barbara Gerolamo in their eternal home. Penny was loving mother to Christine J. Patnaude and her husband Kevin of East Bridgewater, Kevin P. Camara and his wife Tanya of Daytona Beach, FL and Holly B. Dowling and her husband William of East Bridgewater. She adored her 7 grandchildren Paul, Jayme, Tia, Jessica, Ariana, Sean and Connor. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Robert Gerolomo  of Naples FL, her sister-in-law Yvonne Roycroft and husband Richard of Ogunquit, ME, and many nieces and nephews. She leaves behind cherished friends Annette, Dolores, Cheryl, and Mary Ellen.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, August 18, 2023, 4-7pm at the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, 809 Main Street South Weymouth. A Celebration of Life will take place at the funeral home at 10 AM on Saturday, August 19, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial celebrating her life at 11 AM at Holy Family Church in Rockland. A private family burial will take place immediately after at Mount Hope Cemetery in Weymouth. In loving memory of Penny, please complete an act of kindness. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made in her memory to Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis TN 38105.
