Ennis, Gertrude E. “Tango” (Bowers) of Squantum, 96, died January 17, 2016.
Gert has been a Quincy resident for over 70 years. She has been involved with the Squantum 4th of July parade and Quincy Christmas parade for many years. Gert was a people person and loved to talk and tell stories. She also loved to play golf and ran tournaments every year. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, and teaching others how. Gert made costumes for dancing schools and made all of the wedding gowns for family and friends. She designed the window display at Remick’s Department Store in Quincy Center for many years as well. She enjoyed music and taught herself how to play the accordion. Gert will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Wife of the late James Ennis. Loving mother of Barbara Klier of Rockland, Pamela Distefano of Peabody, Melodee Quipp of Ft. Myers. Cherished grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Ronald Ennis and grandson Darren Distefano.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 12-3 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY followed by a funeral home service at 3 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gert may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 or to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.
