Gerard T. Connors

Gerard T. Connors of Braintree passed away on March 30, 2023. He was 74 years old.

Gerard was the son of the late Earl and Madaline Connors (Jessup) and was a lifelong resident of Braintree. He graduated from Braintree High School in 1966 and then enlisted in the Army that upcoming fall. Despite undiagnosed learning disabilities, he studied and worked to graduate from mechanic school and soon became a CH-47 Flight Engineer. He served 18 months in Vietnam where he flew over 100 missions and earned multiple air medals and citations. Upon return to Stateside, he earned an associates degree in business from Newbury College. He then settled down in East Braintree at 39 Hillside Ave. in 1970. He worked at the Braintree Highway Department until he left in 1976 to become the foreman of the custodial, maintenance, and groundskeeping staff at St. Mary’s Church in West Quincy, MA where he worked until he retired in 2013. In the early 1980s he started TJ’s Janitor Service, which later morphed into TJ’s 3 in 1 Service. He was a tireless laborer, who always took care of his customers and rarely complained about the long days and workload. He would always say, “If you take care of people, they’ll take care of you.” Dad was a proud member of the VFW, serving as Commander of Post 1399 in Weymouth on two occasions. He was an avid SCUBA diver and was instrumental in building the Weymouth Chapter of MA Bay Divers. He loved to dive and it took him on many adventures. He would often joke, “Not too bad for a janitor, don’t you think?” He was so much more than that, and he will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.

Beloved husband of the late Sharon S. Connors (Kelley). Cherished father of Shawn P. Connors and his wife Karissa of Middleboro. Proud grandfather of Brayden P. Connors of Middleboro. Dear brother or Edward Connors and his wife Carol of Braintree, and the late George F. Connors. He will also be remembered by many extended family members and friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So.
