Gerard H. Hansen

Gerard H. Hansen, “Jerry”, 79, of Quincy, MA passed away peacefully in his home on April 14, 2025.

Born in Brockton, MA, on June 3, 1945, Jerry graduated from Quincy College in 1977 with an associate’s degree in criminal justice. He served in the US Navy and then worked part time at the Rockland Police Department. Jerry then worked at the Boston Globe for 35 years. After Jerry retired from the Boston Globe he volunteered at the Norfolk District Court in Quincy.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Gerard H. Hansen and Alice Hansen, and his two sisters, Jacqueline A. Horton and Claudette Daley. He is survived by his nieces and nephews Janet, John, James, Jeffrey and Joseph Horton and Debra, Diedra and Frederick Daley.

Jerry will be remembered for his kindness, loyalty and love for his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made and sent to the Merrymount Association 62 Virginia Rd, Quincy, MA, 02169 for the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of the Merrymount Beach; the place Jerry loved to be.

Friends and family are invited to Veterans Memorial Park at Knollwood Cemetery in Canton, MA on May 9, 2025, at 1:00 PM for a short service and burial.
