Smith, Gerard E. Sr. of Quincy October 19, 2006. The beloved husband of the late M. Frances (Farragher) Smith. Loving Father of Gerard E. Smith, Jr, and his wife Kathleen (Donovan) of Marshfield, Michael J. and his wife Sue (Carchidi) of Plymouth, Peg Cammarata and her husband Greg of Norwell and Richard J. Smith of Hingham. Triplet brother of James Smith of Braintree and triplet sister Ann Scott of Scituate, brother of Charles Smith of Quincy and his late twin brothers Rev. Richard J. Smith & Paul Smith, and the late Mary Davis and Ellen Richardson. Devoted Grandfather of Gerry, Bryant, Amanda, Andrew, Matthew, Gregory and Olivia. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., WOLLASTON, Wednesday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, N. Quincy at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours Tuesday 2- 4 & 7- 9 PM. Burial in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. Donations in memory of Mr. Smith may be made to the Road to Responsibility Inc., c/o Joe Travers, 1831 Ocean Street, Marshfield, MA 02050. Late member of I.B.E.W – Local 103. United States Navy veteran. Gerard E. Smith was born in Boston , he was a triplet, his triplet brother James and triplet sister Ann. Along with his triplet sister & brother , he also had a set of twin brothers Richard J. & Paul Smith and a brother Charles and two other sisters Mary & Ellen. They grew up in Dorchester. During his high school years, Gerard played football for Boston Tech. After graduating from Boston Technical High School Gerard entered into the United States Navy and served on the Joseph Kennedy destroyer. He won many boxing titles during his navy career. After his military service Mr. Smith began working for Local 103 I.B.E.W.where he worked for 55 years retiring back in 1992. Gerard was a member of AmVets Post # 0146 from 1983 until present as well as a member of the McKeon Post in Dorchester for a many years. Gerard enjoyed playing golf . He enjoyed boats and boating as well.Mr. Smith was a very social person who enjoyed gatherings and was easy to talk to. He was a generous man with a great sense of humor , he was a real character! More than anything Mr. Smith was a devoted family man and so very proud of his children and grandchildren. He was the husband of the late M. Frances (Farragher). He leaves his 3 sons Gerard E. Smith, Jr. Michael J. and Richard J. Smith and 1 daughter Peg Cammarata . His triplet brother James Smith of Braintree and his triplet sister Ann Scott of Scituate, he also leaves his brother Charles Smith of Quincy. He is brother of the late Mary Davis and Ellen Richardson, his twin brothers are deceased the late Rev. Richard J. Smith and Paul Smith. He is the devoted grandfather of 7 grandchildren Gerry, Bryant, Amanda, Andrew , Matthew and Olivia.
