Steele, Gerald F. “Jerry” of Plymouth, died February 19, 2021.

Jerry Steele, loving husband, father and grampy passed away in the arms of his beloved wife, Rosemarie on February 19, 2021 after a 4 1/2 month battle with Glioblastoma Brain Cancer.  He was born in 1949 in Glace Bay, Canada. His family moved to Dorchester, MA when he was 9 years old.

Jerry graduated from Brighton High School and then went on to further his education at Ford Motor Company. He was a kind and loving husband, father and grampy. Jerry raised his family in South Weymouth MA. He was actively involved in the community by coaching, being a cub scout leader, a CCD teacher and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He often liked to sit back with friends and family and reminisce about all the wonderful South Weymouth stories. He was a simple man and made an impact on everyone he met. He was always there to help and please others. He put others before himself always. He was warm, empathetic and nonjudgmental. Jerry was one funny man. He was witty and always the life of the party. He worked as a Mechanic for many years. He had a passion for cars especially antiques. He recently just bought an antique car and enjoyed long or short spontaneous car rides with his wife. He was an avid traveler and made many memories with his wife in their RV exploring the country. Jerry enjoyed playing golf, darts and caring for his yard and home. His main passion in life was spending time with those he loved, especially his grandchildren. Jerry will be sadly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Beloved husband of 49 years to Rosemarie A. (Frazier) Steele of Plymouth.  Loving father of Krissie Harrington and her husband Paul of Duxbury, Daniel Steele and his wife Alicia of Whitman and Mindy Jackson and her husband Mark of North Carolina.  Devoted Grampy of Aiden, Addyson, Tate, Scarlett, Daniel, Brooke, Jameson, Annahbelle and Bronson.  Cherished son of the late Lawrence Steele and Margaret Steele (Bates).  Caring brother of John Steele of Florida, Karen “Betty” Shaw and her husband Norbert of Canada, Raymond Steele and his wife Ann of Florida, Clare Steele of Marshfield, Catherine Mason and her husband Gerry of Abington, Allen Steele and his wife Kathy of Plainville  and the late Maureen Gouthro, Eveyln Folco and Danette Gouthro. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday, March 4 from 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital).  Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 5 at 11 AM in St. Francis Xavier Church, South Weymouth.

In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to further the research of Glioblastoma 

Normally, the funeral is an opportunity for the community to gather in support of one another. Although some may not be able to gather together with Jerry’s family at this time, friends may still offer their support by sharing a special memory or message.
