George Wong

Wong, George, age 79, of Holbrook, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2015.

George was born in Quincy, MA to the late Wong Jun Ming and Chin Thick Gee. He was the 11th of 12 siblings.

George attended Quincy Vo­Tech and worked for over 60 years in the sheet metal trade. He would jokingly refer to himself as a “tin knocker”. After he retired from the sheet metal trade, he went on to enjoy doing work as an “extra” on local movie sets and in advertisements. Some of his roles were in “The Departed” and “Revenge of the Pink Panther”. He also was a retired captain in the National Guard and a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 17. George never knew a stranger. He would frequently go out of his way to help others. He especially enjoyed laughing and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by two brothers Peter and Hymie Wong and sisters Ruby Eng, Helen Eng, Laura Hom, Ruthie Yee and Lily Chin. He is survived by brothers Barry, Hoover and David (Rose) Wong, sister Mamie DeCoste, mother in law Hana and sister in laws Dory Wong, Tina Wong, Dianne Tajima and Margie Dionne. He will be missed by the love of his life, his wife Evalyn of 47 years who was by his side until the end; daughter Jennifer (Thomas) Stidham; son Craig Wong and two grandsons Kai and Laird Stidham. He also leaves behind his best friend Jack Donovan of 70 years along with numerous loving friends and family members.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday from 10-11 AM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY followed by a funeral home service at 11 AM. Burial will be at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. The family would like to thank the staff at The Royal Braintree Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and Fidelis Hospice and Palliative Care.
