George R. Pugsley Jr.

Pugsley, Jr., George R.  August 16, 1922- May 19, 2013

Originally from Mattapan, George moved to Halifax in the 1940’s. George was a proud WWII veteran having served his country in the Navy for six years.

George enjoyed a long career as a truck driver and was a proud member of the Teamsters, fondly referred to as “Tiny” by all his trucker buddies.

George was a Deacon at the United Church of Christ and participated in many of the church functions over the years including the Men’s Breakfasts, the annual Church Fair and Barbeque.

George’s main passion was his family, they were his world.  He was a devoted Husband to his wife of over 60 years—Dorothy (Genson), loving father to his four daughters Alyson, Candice, Robin and Signa, sons-in-law Sam and Mark and a very proud Grandfather to his “Sweetie Pie” Madison.  George was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews who enjoyed their “Uncle Jr”.

George was a kind, generous and bigger than life person. True to form he donated his body to medical science with the thought that his remains could make a difference.

George’s life will be celebrated with a Memorial service at the United Church of Christ in September 2013.  Donations in memory of George may be made to the Halifax Congregational Church, 503 Plymouth Street, Halifax , MA 02338.
