George P. Fandel, Jr.

Fandel, George P., Jr. of Largo FL, formerly of Quincy, died on Friday, August 6, 2010. Beloved husband of the late Mary-Jane (Houston) Fandel. Loving father of Donna Wilfong and her husband David of NC, Diane Fandel and her husband Jay of FL, and Mary Fandel and her husband Peter Kaplan of Boxford. Loving companion of Alice MacPhee of FL and NH. Brother of Ruth Rudenauer of Hull, Robert Fandel of Norwell and Anne Casper of Middleboro. Also survived by 4 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. George loved being a part of his men’s fraternal organizations, in particular the North Quincy Knights of Columbus, the Quincy Elks, American Legion, The Holy Name Society of St. Ann’s and, of course, his golf leagues. He was recognized by all that knew him as a gentleman, a loving and caring person and someone who would put the interests of others first. George truly embodied the best of “the greatest generation” … duty, faith, family, friends, love of – and service to – his country. He will be missed by all those who loved him. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Monday 2-6 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Tuesday, prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, at 10 AM. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of George may be made to the Alzheimers Assn., MA Chapter, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
