George J. Leber Sr. of Quincy, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025. He leaves his beloved wife of 22 years, Evelyn M. (Ellis/Lawless) Leber; and was formerly married to Carol (Milne) Hanlon of E. Bridgewater.
Born in Chelsea, MA to Rose M. (Trottier) and Edward P. Leber, George was raised in Roxbury and Quincy, and graduated from The Boston Latin School. He served in the Army, Coast Guard, National Guard and Marines over a span of fifteen years. He proudly wore his Vietnam Veteran cap, and while being cared for at Accent Care Hospice, in Milton, George was again honored for his veteran status, along with, a celebration of his 77th birthday, on March 12, 2025.
George worked at the First Provident Bank through many mergers, and was commended for his meticulous work in fraud investigation; vault management; branch manager; and vice president.
Devoted father to George J. “Joe” Leber Jr. and his wife Ruth of N. Attleboro, Leanne M. O’Donoghue of Methuen, and Steven Leber and his wife Susan of Methuen. He leaves a brother, J. Michael Whalen and his wife Deirdre, of Weymouth. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Ryan Leber and Devin Leber of N. Attleboro; Sean O'Donoghue of Methuen; and Matthew Leber and Andrew Leber of Methuen.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Monday, March 24, 2025, from 4-7 PM at the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, Quincy.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at 11 AM at Keohane's. Burial will take place at the National Cemetary in Bourne, MA. Burial will be private.
