George L. “Bud” Murray

Mr. George L. “Bud” Murray, of Weymouth, died November 4, 2021.

George was born in Weymouth, attended Sacred Heart School and later enlisted in the service serving two tours in the U.S. Army between 1946 and 1952.  George met and married his wife Dorothy and they made their home in Weymouth. They were married for 67 years until Dot’s passing in 2019. Together they had 4 children and 7 grandchildren.

George joined the Weymouth Fire Department in 1956 and would ultimately serve as Deputy Fire Chief for the Town of Weymouth, retiring in 1981. George also enjoyed a series of side occupations and projects through the years that show the multiplicity of his talents.  He received his solo pilot’s license, and remodeled and rebuilt two homes. George worked as a finish-carpenter and a mason, and was a photographer, working for Gene Edwards Photography. Upon retirement George tried his hand as an artist, and his paintings hung in Cohasset and Scituate galleries.

Above all, though, George was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father and grandfather and cared immensely for his family. He was a good friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Beloved husband of the late Dorothy C. (Carl). Loving father of Robert Murray of Waltham, William Murray of Weymouth, Cheryl DiCiaccio and her husband, Jeff, of Hopedale, and Patrick Murray and his wife, Monica, of Jamaica Plain.

Brother of Patricia Curran of Weymouth, Norma Doble and her husband, the late Robert Doble of Weymouth, and the late John Murray and his wife, the late Marjorie Murray, Kathleen Weisensale, and William Murray. Grandfather of Acacia, Joseph, and Michael DiCiacco, Nicholas, Jessica, and Joshua Murray and Alyssa Bosse.  Great Grandfather of Nolan Bosse. Uncle of many nieces and nephews.
