George K. Bezanson

George Kenneth Bezanson: of Hanover (formerly of Quincy, Marshfield and Duxbury) died at home on July 19, 2013 after a long period of failing health.  George was the son of the late Alexander and Janet Bezanson of Quincy, brother of Doris Souza of Hanover, William and his wife Lily Bezanson of Aiken SC and the late Donald Bezanson, Jean Dibella and Lena Steele. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Alberta and his sons Alex and his wife Lisa of Abington, George and his wife Marirose of Peabody.  George was the father of the late Linda Harmon and the late Steven Bezanson.  He is also survived by his son-in-law Lester Harmon and his wife Josie of Alton NH and daughter in law Dr. Carolyn Kinzer-Bezanson of St. Simons Island GA. He leaves his grandchildren Sandi Andersen of RI, LeAnn Baldock and George Bezanson both of NH, Christina Dunbar and her husband Jason of Attleboro, Brian Bezanson and wife Jennifer of Abington, Carrie and Anders Bezanson of St. Simons Island GA and Kenyatta Savage and his wife Amanda of Quincy.  He also leaves several great grandchildren.

 George was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War. He worked with his father at the Granite City Blacksmith and Petroleum Equipment Shop in Quincy and operated it for many years after his father’s death. He later managed the Duxbury Motor Inn and the Walpole Motel for many years prior to his retirement. George was a 54 year member of Rural Lodge AF&AM in Quincy and a member and Past Worthy Patron of Quincy, Braintree and Rexhame Chapters of the Order of Eastern Star. He served as Grand Patron for the State of MA, OES in 1982. He was also a former Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader in North Quincy and former Dad Advisor for Wollaston Rainbow and Old Colony DeMolay in Quincy.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital) Prior to visiting hours there will be an Eastern Star Memorial Service at 3 PM all are welcome. Funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Wednesday at 10 AM. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the HUG Foundation of MA  943 (R) Brockton Ave Abington MA 02351 or online at www.HUGfoundationma.org. The HUG Foundation was formed by the Bezanson Family in memory of Linda Harmon with a mission to help those in financial need due to accident, illness or injury.
