Thurston, George J. “Sonny” of Quincy April 10, 2007. Beloved husband of Mary (Gardner) Thurston. Loving father of Ann Marie Bithoney of Framingham, Sandra Anderson of Rockland, Catherine Cheetham, Steven Thurston, both of Plymouth, Deborah Carter of Quincy, and Joseph Thurston of Rockland. Brother of Regina Quintal of NH, Bernadette Seablom of FL, Helen Cook of FL, Richard Thurston of Weymouth, Eileen DiGiacomo of Franklin, John Thurston of TN, Mary Gebhart of VA, Theresa Campbell of Plymouth and the late Margaret Kostival. Also lovingly survived by 14 grandchildren. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., WOLLASTON, Friday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint John’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Visiting hours Thursday 3-8 PM. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. George grew up in Roxbury and has lived in Quincy for the last 47 years. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1956-1962. For over 20 years, he worked as a shipper/receiver mananger for a large poultry company and retired in 2000. Fishing, golfing, woodworking and gardening were a few of his passions. His life was devoted to his family and he found the greatest joy with his 14 grandchildren.
