George F. Wilson

George F. Wilson of Hingham, died November 13, 2023.  Former husband of the late Christine M. (Silipo) Wilson. Loving father of Glenn Wilson of Sandwich, Lisa d’Entremont of Hingham and Jennifer Wilson (Don Watson) of Hingham and Myrtle Beach, SC. Beloved “Grampee” of Jared, Kathryn, and Lucas d’Entremont, and Lucille Watson. George was the son of the late Winfred and Margaret (Cronin) Wilson. He also leaves behind many cherished friends.

George grew up in Hingham. He served in the United States Army then became a Hingham police officer and letter carrier for the US Postal Service before beginning what would be a long career in environmental services. He spent most of his career at Clean Harbors, where he led operations within the continental US and internationally, leaving behind a legacy as an innovative leader and mentor. George won accolades and awards throughout his career and in in 2012, was inducted into the Massachusetts Appreciation Hall of Fame in recognition of his dedicated service to the petroleum industry. He enjoyed traveling and his job took him around the world.  George’s gregarious personality, sense of humor, generosity and legendary story telling made him the life of the party and any stranger soon became his friend. George never met a restaurant he didn’t enjoy. Food was his way of bringing people together. He also enjoyed the outdoors, sitting on the beach, relaxing and soaking up the rays. “Grampee’s” life was his family, especially his four grandchildren who were his pride and joy and the foundation of all that was truly important to him.

The family invites you to join them Friday November 24^th between 4:00pm-7:00pm for a celebratory reception remembering George at Raffael’s at South Shore Country Club, 274 South Street, Hingham MA.
