George F. “Pops” Poplasky

Poplasky, George F. “Pops” of Quincy, formerly of South Boston, died on April 05, 2010. Beloved husband of Helena (Cotter) Poplasky of Quincy. Devoted father of Christina M. Murray and her husband Padraig of Quincy, Thomas F. Poplasky and his fiance Keri Clayton of Weymouth and Mary H. Poplasky and her fiance Sean Gabriel of Newport, RI. Loving brother of John Poplasky of Weymouth and Charlotte Baker of Plymouth. Cherished Papa to Cate and Maeve Murray. Also lovingly survived by his large extended family, including many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. George, known by his friends and family as Pops, grew up in South Boston. He attended St. Augustine’s School and was a graduate of South Boston High School. He proudly served in the United States Army Corp of Engineers from 1960-1963, including 26 months of active duty in Panama. He worked as a Four Color Film Stripper in the printing industry for many years, retiring in 2002. Pops loved fishing, reading his newspaper and listening to classic rock music. His main passion was always spending time with his family, especially his two granddaughters. He will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Thursday 4 – 8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15AM on Friday, prior to the Funeral Mass in Saint Mary’s Church at 10 AM. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Quincy. Donations in memory of George may be made to St. Marys’ Church, 95 Crescent St., West Quincy, MA 02169 or Disabled American Veterans, State House – Room 546, Boston, MA 02133.
