Geoffrey A. Watt

Geoffrey A. Watt, of Hanover, was welcomed into God’s loving embrace on March 29, 2020 after a difficult struggle with substance use disorder. Born June 23, 1991, Geoffrey is the son of Lawrence J. Watt and Judith A. Kelly of Hanover. Geoffrey leaves behind his sister Caitlin K. Watt of California, and brother Christopher L. Watt of Cambridge. Geoffrey’s family takes solace that their son and brother is now in a “dwelling provided for us by God, a dwelling in the heavens, not made by hands but to last forever,” (2 Corinthians 5:1).

A dedicated Scout, Geoffrey achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in Troop 1 of Hanover. Geoffrey graduated from Hanover High School in 2009, and he attended Massachusetts Maritime Academy as well as the Wentworth Institute of Technology. He grew up with a love of the outdoors, particularly camping, fishing, paint balling, and gardening. Geoffrey was passionate about weightlifting, grilling no matter the weather, and had a deep appreciation for many types of music. He also found meaning through his involvement with the organization One Life At A Time.

Geoffrey was very fond of history, with a focus on the Civil War. As part of his love for history he enjoyed visiting many national parks, including Gettysburg, and collecting mementos. He was very fond of all animals and kept several pets over the years, in particular his beloved cat. Geoffrey was always quick with a joke, laugh, or kind word, especially with family. He was a very generous and compassionate person. Though Geoffrey will be deeply missed by his family and friends, they take comfort that he is now at peace and in the hands of his loving God and in the company of his family and friends who have gone before him to God, especially his cherished Nana.

Normally, the funeral is an opportunity for the community to gather in support of one another. Although we cannot gather together with Geoffrey’s family at this time, friends may still offer their support by sharing a special memory or message by clicking the “Send Condolences” link above.
