Gelsomina Donofrio

Donofrio, Gelsomina (Sodano)  “Mimi” of Quincy, died May 16, 2015.

Beloved wife for 61 years of Salvatore F. Donofrio of Quincy. Loving mother of Ralph Donofrio and his wife Mary Jo of South Weymouth and Nancy Donofrio-Wagner and her husband Robert of Braintree.  Cherished grandmother of Christina (Tina) and Danielle (Belle) Donofrio of South Weymouth and Kyle Wagner of Weymouth.  Sister of Antonio Sodano of Quincy and Angelo Sodano of Brighton and the late Salvatore Sodano. Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Gelsomina was born, raised and educated in Pomigliano D’Arco, Italy.  She immigrated to the United States when she was 21 years old.  She and her husband lived in Quincy for 54 years where they raised their family.  Mimi was a talented seamstress working for many years at Remick’s of Quincy, Lord and Taylor and Filene’s of Boston, until her retirement. Gelsomina’s passion was her family, they were truly the cornerstone of her life.  She will be missed by all who had the pleasure to have known her.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
