Gary Lee Hedrick, Sr. of Weymouth, MA passed away peacefully at home on February 24, 2022. His legacy lives on with his family. Father of Gary L. Hedrick, Jr and his wife, Liliana, of Hull, Shannon M. Hedrick and her husband, Guy McPherson, of Brookline, and David R. Hedrick of Waterville, ME. Brother of Mary Ann Mora and her husband, Gary, of Edgewater, FL. Grandfather of Dahlia, Penelope, Josephine, Chloe, and Verona.
Gary was born on September 25th, 1944 in St. Cloud, Florida to Bert Hedrick and Frances Raynor Hedrick. The oldest of two children, he attended Florida State University and earned a Ph.D. in music which was always his greatest pride and passion. He married Nancy Salamone, a math and art teacher on June 10th, 1972, and had three children and worked as a highly talented music teacher serving his community honorably in Florida and Massachusetts. After years dedicated to music education, he worked in sales and fundraising for schools, further showing his love for education and raising his family. Even in the later years of his life, he offered his musical expertise playing harmonium locally in The Satuit Band.
Gary Jr, Shannon, and David remember him as a hard-working father, from raising and helping them foster their talents in their youth to support and mentorship through college into adulthood. As a father, he brought his children to sports practices, chorus rehearsals, taught them how to sail and fish, and took outings to the movie theater and amusement parks.
