Gary J. Gillespie, Sr.

Gary J. Gillespie, Sr. of Weymouth, died suddenly while on vacation in the Bahamas on May 21, 2022 at the age of 70.

Gary grew up in Columbia Point, South Boston, before moving to Weymouth. He enjoyed his work for both the Town of Weymouth and the City of Boston, primarily in the School Department and the Department of Public Works where he made his lifelong friends. Gary was an avid Boston sports fan, enjoyed traveling, summers by the pool, great music and any time spent with his family. The love of his life Elisabeth and his children, Alicia and Gary were his greatest, proudest accomplishments in life. Being Papa to his granddaughters was his greatest joy.

Son of the late Patricia (Coogan) Gillespie. He was the beloved husband of 45 years to Elisabeth (Dunne) Gillespie. Loving father of Alecia Pierce and his son in law Elee Pierce of Weymouth; and Gary J. Gillespie, Jr. and his wife Crystal of Rockland. Proud grandfather of Shyann, Grace, Lily, and Jazmin. Brother of Leslie Gillespie Bacon of Weymouth; Scott Gillespie and his wife Katherine of Bridgewater; Patricia Homsy and her husband George of Plymouth; Patrick Gillespie and his wife Lynn of Weymouth; and the late Stephen Gillespie. Uncle of Keith Gillespie Bacon, Amanda Gillespie, Kaylyn Gillespie, Gianna Homsy, Frederick Dunne, Bobby Stapleton, David Stapleton, Jason Singerella, Jennifer Singerella, Kaitlyn Dunne, Ryan Dunne, Michael Savage, Brian Savage, Lisa Savage and Jeremy Baranya.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family during the celebration of Gary’s life on Thursday 6/9/22 from 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital).
