Frederick J. Desantis, Sr.

DeSantis,, Frederick J. , Sr. of Quincy, passed away January 20, 2013.

The beloved husband of 66 years to Marion A. ( Laccona) DeSantis of Quincy. Father of Frederick J. DeSantis, Jr. and his wife Arlene of Plymouth, Dennis M. DeSantis of Weymouth and his late wife Susan. Father in law of Barbara M. (Bezanson) DeSantis of Weymouth. Brother of Carmella (DeSantis) Hammerle of Quincy and the late John DeSantis. Grandfather of Deanne M. (DeSantis) Pettinelli and her husband Richard of Kingston and Nicole M. DeSantis of Weymouth. Frederick is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A proud W.W. II Navy veteran, Fred was a long time member of Laborers Local #133 as well as a member of the Sons of Italy in Hingham post 1850. He worked as a construction supervisor for the Wexler Company for many years and in his earlier years he had worked for Bethlehem Steel. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who taught his family the meaning of hard work. He enjoyed gardening and spending time at his Cape Cod house in Dennis. Fred truly enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters. He will be sadly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 5-8pm in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM.  Funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 AM in Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, Hingham.  Burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham.  Donations in memory of Frederick may be made to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
