Frederick “Hacka” Hanley

Mr. Frederick “Hacka” Hanley, of Weymouth, passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family on March 24, 2023. He was 89.

Born in Boston, and he was raised in South Boston, Beloved companion of the late Margaret Theresa Butler and a son of the late John and Mary (MacDonald) Hanley, he had lived in Weymouth for many years. Hacka worked for 30 years for the MBTA as a controller. Following his retirement, he worked at JP Ryan’s in Abington. In his spare time, Hacka enjoyed biking, cooking, and walking. He enjoyed traveling to Prince Edward Island, Canada to visit many relatives. He will be deeply missed by all those that knew and loved him.

Loving father of Maureen Butler and Diane Butler both of Weymouth. Stepfather of Susan Volosavage of Hanson, Janice Bennett of Needham, Paul Butler of Boston, and the late Joseph and Karen Butler. Brother of the late Robert, Morton, and Francis Hanley and Joan Collins. Grandfather of Jared Volosavage, Robert Beal, John Butler, Chelsi Decoste, Joseph and Margaret Wilmott, and Shawn Butler and the late Cory Decoste. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Thursday, March 30th, from 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 10 AM. 

Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury.
