Bythrow, Frederick Glennon, 77, of Quincy passed away peacefully Monday October 4, 2010 at Quincy Medical Center after a brief illness. Fred was the loving husband of 53 years of Betty (Newton). He was the devoted father of: Kathy Shaw and husband David, Frederick (Ricky) Bythrow Jr. and wife Linda, Kevin Bythrow and wife Donna, Paul Bythrow and wife Beth, all of Quincy, Michael Bythrow and wife Laurie of Weymouth, and Maureen (Renee) Bythrow and husband Daniel Moynihan of New York. Fred was the proud and cherished Papa of Ashley, Cory, Steven, Andrew, Anna, Rachele and Michael Bythrow, and Samantha and Matthew Shaw. Fred was the son of the late George and Louise Bythrow. One of 14 siblings, he was brother to Mary and Daniel of Quincy, John of Connecticut, Robert of North Reading and Peter of Maryland. He was also brother to the late George (Bud) Bythrow, William Bythrow, Jean Ladas, Valerie DiTuillio, Beatrice Miller, and Martha Byrne. Fred is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Fred was a lifelong resident of Quincy (Houghs Neck), where he was a dedicated member of the community. Fred was a retired Korean War Navy Veteran who served on the USS Mullaney 528. He was a 30+year employee of Boston Edison. Among many dedicated services, Fred was a former Scoutmaster of Troop 35 Houghs Neck, a Most Blessed Sacrament CCD teacher, a former Houghs Neck Pirates baseball coach, and a member of the Holy Name Society. He was also a well-deserved recipient of the Hough’s Neck Community Council Good Neighbor Award. Fred was a dedicated parishioner of Most Blessed Sacrament Church (Holy Trinity Parish). Here, he also served as an usher, altar server, and caretaker of the church he loved. Next to his faith, Fred most of all enjoyed his family. He loved holidays, his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities, and his summers spent in New Hampshire. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday, October 7, from 3-8 PM at Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St, Quincy. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 10:15 AM, prior to the funeral Mass at Holy Trinity Parish in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, Quincy, at 11 AM. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. In Lieu of Flowers, donations may be sent to the Fuel Fund of Holy Trinity Parish, 26 Shed Street, Quincy MA 02169 or to the Houghs Neck Community Council Scholarship Fund c/o David DiBona, Dave Dibona at 45 Turner Street Quincy, MA 02169.
