Fryer, Franklin “Mr. Weymouth”, of Weymouth, passed away February 11, 2013 at the age of 91. Franklin proudly served in the U.S. Marines during WWII and was a Purple Heart recipient from being injured during the invasion of Guam. After returning home he went on to work at the Fore River Shipyard and later at Weymouth Art Leather where he worked his way up to personnel manager. Known as “Mr. Weymouth”, he was incredibly active throughout the town. He served as a town meeting member from 1954-1999, a Town Selectman from 1955-1973 and Town Clerk from 1976-2011. He oversaw nine Presidential elections and performed about 1,500 marriages as Justice of the Peace. Franklin was a member of the Military Officers Association, the Weymouth Elks, the American Legion,  VFW and the Purple Heart Association. 

 Beloved husband of the late Mary K. (Taylor) Fryer. Longtime companion of Norma Carlson of Weymouth.    Loving brother of the late Nathaniel Fryer and Constance Dentino. Brother-in-law of Tony Dentino.  Father of Anne Fryer McCulloch of North Weymouth.  Cherished grandfather of Brian McCulloch of Hull and David McCulloch of Brockton. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, members of the Carlson and Tuite families and many close friends.

 Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 2-6 PM in the McDonald Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hosp.)  Funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Monday at 11 AM. Burial in Old North Cemetery, Weymouth. Donations in memory of Franklin may be made to the VFW, 601 Broad Street, Weymouth, MA 02189 or American Legion, 19 Hollis Street, Weymouth, Ma 02190.
