Frank J. Abbruzzese

Abbruzzese, Frank J. of Quincy, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA. April 3, 2008. Beloved husband of the late Anna M. Abbruzzese. Loving father of Dr. Anne Hurley-Mello and her husband Bob of Hanover and the late Phyllis Abbruzzese. Cherished grandfather of Maxwell Mello of Hanover. Funeral services were private. Frank received his degree in Materials Research prior to joining the US Navy in 1942. He was a World War II veteran and served as a Motor Machinist in Guam. After the war he was a specialist Tool and Die Maker for Crucible Industries, a leading company engaged in metals research. He retired in 1987 and spent several years in the metallurgy department at the University of Pittsburgh. His hobbies included fly tying, fly fishing, and photography. His pride and joy was his daughter Anne, and during her childhood he could be found at every piano concert, dance recital, and fire baton event. He taught her about cars, plants, photography, and most importantly, how to be a kind and caring person. This father and daughter were truly best friends all through life. His second pride and joy was his Grandson Max. It’s not clear who was the mini golf or checker champion, but it was fun to listen to the debates. Most recently he enjoyed the companionship of his dog “Emperor Chin”, a black and white Japanese Chin, a breed of loyalty and friendship, that his daughter Anne got for him when he started ailing. Burial service will be later this month at Resurrection Cemetery, Pittsburgh, PA. where Mr. Abbruzzese will be laid to rest next to his wife of 66 years, Anna, and his daughter Phyllis. Donations in memory of Mr. Abbruzzese may be made to the American Diabetes Assn., 330 Congress St., Boston, MA 02210-1216.
