Frank J. DeLorenzo of Middleboro, formerly of South Weymouth, passed away on January 20, 2019.
A devoted family man born in 1929, Frank is survived by his wife of 64 years, Frances A. (Perry) DeLorenzo of Middleboro. Father of Elaine DeLorenzo Spitz and her husband, Joseph, of Braintree, Patrice B. DeLorenzo and her partner, Michael Mixter, of Colorado, Brian P. DeLorenzo and his husband, John Amodeo, of Dorchester, Karen DeLorenzo McPhillips and her husband, Spencer Kirk-Jackson, of Vermont, and Jennifer DeLorenzo and her partner, Thomas Barrieau, of Essex. Papa of Matthew and Gregory Spitz. He was a loving and beloved brother of Gloria Cody, Josephine Swett (deceased), Marie and Jerome Denberger, and Judy Strachan. He leaves a number of adored and adoring nieces and nephews, cousins and other extended family members as well.
According to Frank, his happiest days were spent with family celebrating birthdays and holidays, singing with his children, and traveling to Montana to ride horseback on the mountain trails and meadows. A graduate of Weymouth High School and Burdett College, Frank was Business Manager and Accountant with Pearl St Motors in Braintree for over 50 years. He was also a natural music maker: served as soloist and choir member for decades at St. Francis Xavier in South Weymouth; studied voice with the late Mme Melba McCreery, soprano in the German opera; presented benefit concerts with his children (The DeLorenzo Family Singers) on behalf of the Sancians drum corps and St. Francis Xavier church; performed with several orchestras in the Boston area; and sang principle roles with theater troupe, The Genesian Players – The Fantasticks, Music Man, Carousel and Jesus Christ Superstar. At the age of 74, he recorded his first CD, Songs of Inspiration, with accompanist, Pauline Jennings (deceased), then six years later recorded, Love Songs and Others to Live For. Frank grew up in Nash’s Corner, South Weymouth where he made many lifelong friends – many of whom reconnect annually at a reunion brunch.
Please join the family in celebration of the wonderful man Frank was and bring to the forefront the memories that will continue to be treasured and carry his light onward.
