Mr. Franco Pietro Romano, of Braintree, passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family on March 22, 2025. He was 78.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Franco Pietro Romano, a beloved husband, father, nonno, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Franco passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Ponza, Italy, and immigrated to the United States in 1968, driven by a passion to pursue the American dream. In 1983, Franco opened his own business, Stereo Component Service, on Commonwealth Avenue in Boston, Massachusetts, where he was a master technician. His business continues to operate successfully today by his sons, a testament to his dedication, hard work, and love for his craft.
Franco’s greatest joy in life was his family. In 1976 he married the love of his life, Susan, and together they built a beautiful life full of love and laughter. Franco was a proud father and nonno. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life. He cherished every moment spent with them and his extended family. Whether as a brother, uncle, cousin, or friend, Franco had a rare and wonderful ability to make anyone feel like family.
He could light up any room he entered, and his ability to befriend even the most common stranger was a gift that made him beloved by all who knew him.
Franco’s love for his heritage and his island of Ponza was deep and unwavering. He enjoyed traveling, especially during summers when he would return to Italy, sharing his pride for his roots with those lucky enough to join him. Franco was also a talented cook, and there was nothing he enjoyed more than having friends and family over, preparing delicious meals that were always made with love.
In his spare time, Franco found peace and pride in his garden, where he lovingly tended to his fig trees. He took great joy in watching them grow, just as he had nurtured the relationships with his family and friends throughout his life.
Franco will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of kindness, generosity, and love will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Franco's memory will forever be cherished by his wife Susan, children, grandchildren, and all who were touched by his warmth and spirit. May he rest in peace.
