Francis X. Herr

Francis X. Herr of Weymouth, formerly of Jamaica Plain, died July 16, 2013. He was 94. Francis proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked as a medical historian for Codman & Shurtleff Inc., later becoming a Johnson & Johnson company, for 45 years, retiring in 1994. Francis’s dedication to his reading and research awarded him an associate membership with the Francis A. Countway Library of Medicine in Boston, otherwise only available to doctors. Francis will be remembered as an intelligent, hardworking and kind man.  

Loving brother of Mary E. Nugent and her late husband Charles of Weymouth and the late John Herr. Devoted uncle of Mary Martel and her husband Michael of Weymouth, Charles Nugent and his wife Sandra of Hanson and John Nugent and his wife Eleanor of Reading. Cherished great-uncle of Christine Martel-Ficarra, Laurie Ziniti, Amy Lekakos, Jennifer Murphy, Nicholas Martel and Colleen, Samantha, Eric and Andrew Nugent. Cherished great-great uncle to 12 nieces and nephews who’s lives he played an active role in and loved dearly. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 5-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home EAST WEYMOUTH at 3 Charles Street (corner of Charles & Middle Street)  Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:30 AM Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM. Burial in Village Cemetery, Weymouth.
