Sheltry, Francis W. of Hingham, died on Wednesday, September 15,2010, he was 90. Beloved husband of the late Ann (Brion) Sheltry. Cherished father of Julie Hanley of NC, William Sheltry of FL, Andrew Sheltry of Hingham and Frederic Sheltry of FL. Brother of Paul Sheltry of FL. and Barbara Roche of VA. Grandfather of Nicole Sheltry of FL. Mr. Sheltry was born in Northumberland New Hampshire. He raised his family inQuincy until 1965 before moving to Hingham where he resided for 45 years. A proud W.W. II United States Army Veteran working on Helicopters and training other mechanics. Mr. Sheltry worked as a draftsman for the Norfolk Conveyer Company which later became Jervis Webb, located in Quincy and Cohasset, for more than 35 years retiring back in 1984. Francis was a talented repair man who enjoyed fixing just about anything. After his retirement, Mr. Sheltry began volunteering at Bare Cove Park in Hingham. He became an avid caretaker, historian and promoter of the park. He was named “Citizen of the Year” by the Hingham Journal for his dedication to the park. Mr. Sheltry will be deeply missed by all those who where fortunate to have known him. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. Hingham on Monday 4-8pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15AM on Tuesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church, Hingham at 10am. Burial in Saint Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mr. Sheltry may be made to Friends of Bare Cove Park, c/o Town Hall, 210 Central St. Hingham, MA 02043. .
