Ron was born in Weymouth, MA to Francis and Kathleen (Watson) Jeffe on February 17, 1933. He spent his entire life living in Weymouth and met his wife Jean during their high school years. Just prior to induction into the Army for the Korean War, Ron and Jean eloped at the age of 19 on New Years Day. They spent the next 3 years traveling and living on army bases from Georgia to Washington state where their daughter Sharon was born, then to Arizona and finally returning back home to Weymouth. Son David arrived shortly after their return.
Ron’s career as a mechanical engineer spanned 41 years working for Raytheon, Northrop, and Foxboro. He was a voracious reader and could fix anything. He was a jack of all trades and truly a master of all trades. He could answer any question you had even if you didn’t want to hear the answer.
Ron was a past commodore and member at the Braintree Yacht Club. Boating was a passion for the family and Ron learned to operate a variety of vessels from small recreational boats to a large trimaran sailboat. He eventually graduated to a 41’ power boat on which he and Jean spent many summers living aboard in Oak Bluffs Harbor, Martha’s Vineyard.
Ron and Jean spent many years in retirement traveling to some wonderful destinations with a 6 week journey around Australia and New Zealand being the highlight of their adventures. Winters were often spent in Lakeworth, FL at the family condo.
He is survived by his wife of 67+ years Jean (Niemi), his daughter Sharon Jeffe of Belgrade Maine, son David and his wife Shirley of Winthrop Maine, his grandchildren Ryan Jeffe and his wife Andrea of Cornish Maine, Marissa Mason and her husband Adam Mason of Shrewsbury Massachusetts, and great granddaughter Abigail. Ron was predeceased by his brother Joseph Jeffe.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Saturday 1-3 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital).
