McCormack, Francis P, “Frank,” of North Quincy, formerly of South Boston, passed away unexpectedly on May 14, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of 61 years to Dorothy (Walsh) McCormack. Proud and devoted father of seven children, Tina of Braintree, Pat of Hull, Judy and husband Tommy Tryon of Quincy , Noreen and husband Mike Devlin of Braintree, Tim and former wife Lucy Gibbs of Pembroke, Fran and wife Tina of Quincy , Beth and husband Mark Leonard of Hingham. He will always be remembered as “Pippy” to his cherished thirteen grandchildren, Michael, Andrew, Kevin, Rudy, Robert, Caroline, Anna, Patrick, Adam, Martin, Marykate, Aidan, and Tess. Son of the late Patrick & Delia McCormack. Brother of Mary Kahler, Peg Hogan, and Terry Flynn and the late Paul, John ” Steve” Joe and Ann McCormack. At the age of 17 he entered the United States Navy in 1942 from the Charlestown Navy Yard and was assigned as an Armed Guard detachment aboard the S.S. Examiner and subsequently on “Bigfoot Wallace” in which he was awarded several medals. Following the war, he worked for 37 years for the Boston Elevated Railway, (MBTA) retiring in 1982 and was a continued member of the Amalgamated Transit Union for 50 years. In addition he was an employee of the Boston Public Schools for over 25 years, working at the Boston School Supply room and the George Robert White Stadium. Always happy to celebrate an occasion with family and friends, Frank shared all that he had, and loved doing just that. Maintaining his flowerbox, yard, and home was a major priority, but not enough to prevent him from making his daily visit for sunning and a swim at Wollaston Beach. Frank was a great supporter of the North Quincy High School Hockey Program. Win or lose, the team would be happy to receive a case of Coke. Frank will be remembered for his love and loyalty for family, friends, faith, a proud Irish heritage, and strong work ethic. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8pm in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St. Quincy. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:15AM on prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, North Quincy Wednesday at 10am . Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, onations in memory of Frank may be made to V.A. Hospital,1400 V.F.W. Parkway, West Roxbury, MA. Frank was a proud United States Navy Veteran.
