Francis M. Cleary

Cleary, Francis M. (Frank) of Quincy, died suddenly July 11, 2015.

Frank’s life was centered around his loving family and his devotion to his faith and dedicated work.  He faithfully attended daily Mass up until the end of his life.  At Blessed Mother Teresa, Dorchester, he coordinated the monthly group for The Pine Street Inn Meal Service.  He also served as a volunteer on Thanksgiving and Christmas at The Pine Street Inn for 36 years making his family very proud and happily awaiting his arrival home to have him carve up the turkey.  He grew up in Savin Hill and had received the Dorchester Hall of Fame Award in 2009 for someone who had moved out of the area but continued to do much for the community.  Frank had retired on his 78th birthday this past May 29th, working over 49 years in the Dental Industry.  His last 18 years were spent working for Patterson Dental with a firm commitment to his clients, always available.  He said the word ‘retirement’ was not in his dictionary and therefore was intent on working in Real Estate.  He was a Constable in Quincy for 22 years.  He loved traveling with his wife, going off for a day to a favorite spot and still getting her back in time for the 4pm Mass at St. Ann’s.  He loved their trips to San Francisco, Lake George and Rochester, NY.  Frank was a Veteran who served in the Marine Reserves and then moved to the Navy to go off on an adventure over the seas.  He truly loved his Country, God, and Family and will be sadly missed by the friends he always managed to keep in touch with.

Beloved husband of Margaret (Doran) (Peggy) Cleary of Quincy.  Loving father of their children and spouses: Debra and Wayne Cromp of Weymouth, Brian and Marina Ostrov Cleary of Dorchester and Susan and Brendon Anderson of Pembroke.  Fun-loving and cherished Grampy to Martin, Sarah, Daniel, Jack, Erik and Julien.   Son of the late Martin and Bridget (Rabbitt) Cleary of Ireland and Savin Hill. Brother to Elizabeth Gelly of East Falmouth, Martin and Joan Cleary of Marshfield, Evelyn Gallagher of Weymouth and Richard and MaryAnn Cleary of Plainville.  Brother-in-law to George and Jean Doran of Quincy and Mary McLaughlin of Raynham.  Also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday, 4-8pm in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 10:30 am on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Wollaston at 11:30 am.  Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, West Quincy.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Frank may be made to The Pine St. Inn or The Quincy Animal Shelter.
