Francis J. Welch Jr.

Francis J. Welch, Jr. of Quincy, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Monday September 2, 2019, he was 96. 

Born in Manchester New Hampshire, he was a son of the late Francis J. Welch Sr. and Mary Welch.  Francis was raised in Roslindale, and was a 1941 graduate of Roslindale High School.  He was a United States Navy WWII Veteran, and retiree from the United States Postal Service.  He enjoyed spending time at Wollaston Beach, and the greatest joys in his life came from time spent with his family.

Francis was the beloved husband of the late Katherine M. (Sugrue) Welch, and the devoted father of Janet and her husband Mark Ferris of Whitman, and Robert J. Welch and his wife Diana Gamser of Cambridge.  He was the loving grandfather of Drew Ferris, Capt. USMC and his wife Akina of Okinawa Japan, Janelle Ferris and her Fiance Rick Tarleton of Charleston SC, Bryan Ferris of Whitman, Sylvia Welch of Cambridge, and the proud great-grandfather of Julian Ferris.  He was the brother of the late Marjorie Hayes, Walter Welch, and Eileen Ash. 

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visitation on Wednesday from 10-11 AM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY, with a service beginning at 10:45 in the funeral home.  Burial will be private at Cambridge Cemetery.
