Yafrate, Francis A. “Fran” of Quincy, died unexpectedly October 26, 2017, at the age of 76.
Beloved husband of 31 years to Maryalice O’Hearn Yafrate of Quincy. Devoted father of Michael Yafrate and his wife Kristen of East Bridgewater. Cherished Papa of Hannah and Ryan Yafrate. Caring brother of James Yafrate and his wife Jacqueline of Raynham. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, former wife Virginia Waring Yafrate, and dear friends.
Fran graduated from Stonehill College and went on to receive his Master’s Degree from Cambridge College. He worked as a Math teacher at Brockton High School for 40 years before retiring in 2002. He also enjoyed many years supporting their Athletic Department as the Faculty Manager of Athletics. Fran lived life full of love and faith. He was a devoted and active member of St. Joseph’s Church in Quincy. Fran was loved by all who knew him, affectionately known by his neighbors as the “Mayor of Sea Ave” because of the bond of friendship he had with all of them. He was an upstanding member of the Neighborhood Club in Quincy, active at Stonehill College, was chosen to be the first “Grateful Patient” of South Shore Hospital, and was a man who was always there to help everyone. Fran loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, golfing, was a master gardener and a creative home re-builder. He will be remembered for his talent in cooking, great sense of humor and hospitality. Fran will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Joseph’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial to follow.
