Francis Edward Coughlin

Francis Edward Coughlin died Friday, October 14, 2016,  of an extended illness. 

Born June 2, 1942, his friends called him Frank and his family called him Eddie. Raised in St. Gregory’s parish in Dorchester, he moved to West Quincy in 1970 with his loving wife, the late Elizabeth (Reeves) Coughlin, where they raised their two daughters as active members of St. Mary’s parish.

Eddie had a quick wit and loved to tease, he lit up the room at family parties and never missed an opportunity to be a prankster or pull a practical joke.

He spent his free time in his garden, fishing, and boating with his late father as a member of the Milton Yacht Club. Above all, he enjoyed his family, especially his granddaughters. 

He retired as a Senior Designer for the Polaroid Corporation in Cambridge where he helped pioneer the processing of instant photography and secure patterns revolutionizing that industry. Previously his work included collecting results data of the United States Nuclear Program in the South Pacific at Christmas Island.

Eddie is survived by his loving family; his daughters, Kathleen Galvin and her husband Sean of Quincy, and Patti McIntyre and her husband Dan of Abington, his sister Ann Fay of Canton, and his cherished granddaughters Shannon Galvin of Quincy and Victoria McIntyre of Abington.  

He will also be lovingly remembered by his extended family; Mary and the late Bob DeMole of Burlington, Bob and Carol Reeves of South Dennis, William Reeves and Millie Dateo of West Roxbury, the late James Reeves, and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM.  Burial in Milton Cemetery, Milton.
