Francis B. “Mac” Mcdonald

MCDONALD, Francis “MAC” B. Jr. of Quincy, July 31, 2011. Age 83. Beloved husband of 62 years to Delia D. (Cantelli) McDonald. Loving Father of the late Patricia A. Keogh and her husband Paul of Fair Haven, New Jersey. Devoted son of the late Marguerite (Guinasso) and the late Francis B. McDonald of Milton. Loving brother of Richard McDonald of Athol, the late Anna (Hanson) of Braintree, and the late Robert McDonald of Milton. Grandfather of Melissa McDonald and Christopher Keogh. Frank had a wonderful sense of humor and a kind heart. You could often find him lovingly polishing his Lincoln town car and he was quick to remind everyone to frequently change their oil. He was employed as a service manager and mechanic for various auto dealerships including Carlton Ford, Volvo Village and South Shore Volvo. A veteran of WWII, Mac served his country in the United States Army in Okinawa, Japan where he had his first experience fixing engines in 1946. An avid audiophile, Mac had all the latest equipment and visitors often received demonstrations of the latest quad decoder and dissertations on the advantages of BETA over VHS. An accomplished linguist, Mac spoke a variety of languages including Italian, German and conversational Japanese. His linguistic talents were an inspiration to his family and a source of confusion to outsiders “what language is he speaking now??” was a common refrain. Frank, Mac, “Papa” to his grandchildren will be lovingly remembered as a source of laughter and love. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services in Celebration of Francis’ Life on Friday at 9:15 a.m. from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY, with a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Agatha’s Church,432 Adams Street, MILTON at 10:30 a.m. Visiting hours Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Lupus Foundation of America, Inc. 2000 L Street, NW Suite 410 Washington, DC 20036.
