Lydon, Frances Tomasina (Macchia) of Hingham, July 12, 2008. The beloved wife of 48 years to Thomas K. Lydon. Devoted mother of Maria Lydon Barnes of Seekonk and her former husband Thomas Barnes, Julie Lydon Kellerman and her husband Daniel of Billerica, Thomas K. Lydon, Jr. of Hingham and Stephanie Ann Dolly and her husband Hugh of Bulverde, TX. Sister of Joseph Macchia of Westminster. Cherished grandmother of Bella & Colt Dolly. Loving Aunt of Paula Fontaine of Gardner, David Macchia of Westminster and Joseph Macchia of Southbridge. Frances is also survived by many cousins. Fran grew up in South Boston. She graduated from South Boston High School Class of 1952 and then received her Bachelors degree from Emmanuel College in 1956. Fran earned her Masters degree from Boston College in 1958. She began her teaching career at Bridgewater High School, where she taught for several years before starting her family. She went back to teaching in 1975 at South Boston High School where she taught for many years before retiring in 1998. After her retirement, Fran continued to be active with both the South Boston High School & Emmanuel College Alumni Committees and assisted with their class reunions. While living in Hingham for the past 33 years, Fran was an active member at St. Paul’s Parish where she was a Eucharistic minister. Fran was a devout catholic and would often bring communion to those residents at Harbor House in Hingham who were unable to attend mass. She was the past President of the Catholic Womens Club in Hingham and was an officer in the Italian American Womens group. As active as she was, Fran always found time for her family whom she cherished. She will be sadly missed by all those who were blessed to have had her in their lives. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, Tuesday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint Paul’s Church, Hingham at 10 AM. Visiting hours Monday 4- 8 PM. Burial in Saint Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham. Donations in memory of Fran may be made to Hospice of the South Shore, 100 Baystate Dr., PO Box 859060 Braintree, MA 02185 and or St. Paul’s Church, 147 North St., Hingham, MA 02043.
