Joyce, Frances M. (Slivonik), age 91, of Quincy, January 26, 2004. Loving mother of John and his wife Catherine Joyce of Weymouth, Ellen Richey and her late husband Gerald of Princeton, IN, Doris and her husband James Driscoll of Abington, Thomas Joyce of Brockton, MaryAnn and her husband Jeff Garland of Rockland, Clare and her husband Edward Donahue of Walpole, Peter and his wife Lori Joyce of Mullica Hill, NJ, Richard and his wife Nancy Joyce of Quincy, and the late Leonard Joyce. Dear sister of Rev. Stanley Slivonik of VA, Doris Rogalski of NY, and the late Helen Rutzel, Lillian Petrovsky, and Wallace Slivonik. Also survived by 28 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Former wife of the late Edward M. Joyce. Frances was a member of the Legion of Mary, Fatima Guild, a communicant at St. Ann’s Church for many years and a Cub Scout leader. She worked as a proofreader for 6 years at the American Book Co. in New York during the Depression. She was an avid gardener, seamstress and was also very skillful at knitting. Mrs. Joyce was famous for her baking especially chocolate chip cookies and Danish pastry. Her family has fond memories of their house always being open to friends and neighbors and Frances enjoyed all her guests. Education was an important part of her life and she was proud of the fact that 8 of her children graduated from North Quincy High School and went on to higher learning. Frances went on a pilgrimage with her son Tom in 1970 and they visited Fatima, Lourdes, Garabandal and the Vatican.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home 785 Hancock St. , WOLLASTON Saturday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint Ann’s Church, Wollaston at 10 AM. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 pm. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. Donations in memory of Mrs. Joyce may be made to Catholic Charities, 75 Kneeland St., 8th Floor Boston MA 02111.
