Funeral Mass in Saint Paul’s Church, Hingham at 11 AM. Visiting hours Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Cremation will follow. Emo had a heart of gold. Everyone who called him “friend” knows he couldn’t do enough for you. He eagerly waited for the first day of summer to open his pool for his grandchildren, not to mention the neighborhood kids. Over the years, with patience and encouragement, he taught more than thirty children how to swim. As they gained confidence, he would camp out under his patio umbrella and spend afternoons coaching them from the sidelines. His generosity came from the heart. His joy came from the happiness he could bring to others, and his smile and sparkling blue eyes could light up the room. Emo served in the Navy for four years during the Korean War. He married Fiorinda “Dolly” Conte in 1957. In 1965, Emo and Dolly took over the family business, Conte’s Dress Shop in Hingham Square. Dolly ran the shop, while Emo served as a patrol officer for 16 years with the Metropolitan Police Department in Boston. He was also a member of the American Legion Morrisette Post in Quincy. Emo loved his many friends like they were family and enjoyed spending time with them laughing and joking. He loved golf, swimming, dancing, and traveling. He took special joy in spending time with his grandchildren. We all love you Emo, Dad, Papa, “This much and more,” and will miss you in our lives every day.
