Everett Liley Simonds “Si” of Weymouth, entered into eternal life at the age of 87 surrounded by his loving family on February 26, 2019.
Si grew up in Braintree and graduated from Braintree High School, Class of 1950. He served in the Korean War proudly and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After serving 4 years, he was discharged in 1954. He worked for several years in the commercial heating industry as a “troubleshooter’ as the Director of Strategic Operations covering the East Coast, Carribean Islands, Mexico and Canada. He loved his job. With the help of his wife, Beverly he endured 59 years of being a type 1 diabetic and received a medal from the Joselyn Clinic for being one of the longest living persons with type 1 diabetes.
Son of the late Everett and Hazel (Liley) Simonds. Beloved husband of 62 years to Beverly R. (Ross). Loving father of Carla M. Trombetta and her husband, Jamie, of Brevard, NC, Caren M. Perry and her husband, Rick, of Naples, FL, and Denise E. Hatch and her husband, Russ, of Weymouth. Brother of Priscilla Mallon of Sutton, NH, and the late Walter D. Simonds and Barbara L. Steen. Grandfather of Melissa Buckley (Scott), Wendy Romanieki (Matthew), Debra and Neal Almeida, Casey Crowley (Daryle), Kelly Coffey (Brian), Russell Hatch (Jackie), and Erin Gaine (Derek). Great grandfather of Elizabeth, Mckalah, Madison, Dylan, Avery, Cullen, Rylee Jo, Braeden, Keegan, Everett, Declan, Ethan, Griffin, Chase, and Sylvie. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday from 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 AM in the funeral home followed by his funeral service in Old South Union Church, Weymouth, at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christian Appalachian Project, P.O. Box 55911, Lexington, KY 40555-5911 or to New England Center for Homless Veterans 17 Court Street Boston, MA 02108.
