Evelyn Murphy Crim of Hull and Wollaston died February1. She was 91.
Evelyn was born in Boston, the loving daughter of Jessie McLeod Murphy and Joseph Leo Murphy. After graduating from the Boston School of Practical Arts, Evelyn worked as a personal secretary in the Heffenreffer Beer Company until she met and married Naval sailor George Crim during war times. Evelyn traveled to and enjoyed many locations as a Navy wife, while returning to the family’s beloved Cottage in Hull whenever she could.
Evelyn’s life always centered around The Church and her family. Active in many Church and social groups and activities, she was filled with joy by her ministering as a Eucharistic Minister. She worked part-time at the Government Printing Office in Washington, DC while her children were school-aged. As her children moved on to college, she returned to school to earn a Bachelor’s degree in accounting. She worked as an accountant for the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington for many years. Upon retirement she beelined her way back up to Hull (summers) and Wollaston for the rest of her life. She was active in both parish communities while her health enabled this.
Beloved wife of the late George Norman Crim Sr., she was the loving mother of George N. Crim Jr. and wife Debby of Cartersville, Georgia, Richard Arthur Crim and wife Irma of Park City, Kansas, and daughter Evelyn Crim Doyle and husband Bernard of Arlington, Virginia. Dear sister of Dorothea Riley Byrnes of Hull, June McInnis of Winchester, the late Jessie Fergusson and husband Earnest of Hingham, the late Arthur Murphy and wife Claire of West Roxbury, and the late infant Joseph Leo Murphy.
Evelyn is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, 6:30 – 9: PM, in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald Street, Hingham.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the funeral home at 9:15 Saturday morning prior the Funeral Mass at St. Ann’s Church – Hull at 10am
Burial will be at St. Paul Cemetery.
