Evelyn L. Murphy

Murphy, Evelyn L. (Bean) of Quincy formerly of Somerville, passed away on July 21, 2012, she was 93. The beloved wife of the late Vincent P. Murphy. Devoted mother of Kevin V. Murphy and his wife Linda of Marshfield, Paul T. Murphy and his wife Jo Ann of Plymouth and Karen A. Butler and her husband Robert of Marblehead. Sister of Elizabeth Hamilton of Medford and the late Mary, Edward, Lawrence and Francis Bean. Cherished grandmother of Leanne Schiller, Courtney Murphy and Jennifer McLain. Great grandmother of Andrew and Griffin Schiller. Evelyn grew up in Somerville. She worked for the City of Quincy for several years before taking a position with the Boston Building Department, where she retired several years ago. Evelyn loved music and dancing and she enjoyed following the Red Sox and the Celtics. The foundation of her life was her family, she was devoted to them and they cherished her. Evelyn will be remembered for her kind heart and giving spirit. Her family is saddened at her loss but they feel blessed for all the blessings she brought into their lives. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Tuesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Evelyn may be made to a charity of your choice.
