Eugene F. O’Connor

Eugene F. O’Connor of Weymouth, died October 25, 2013 at the age of 90.

Born in Dorchester, raised in East Milton, Gene graduated in 1941 from North Quincy High School. He later worked as a salesman for Canada Dry and White Bros. During WWII, he served as a drill sergeant for the National Guard. Beloved husband of 66 years to Mary E. (Coulon) O’Connor. Brother of the late Catherine Manning of Quincy and the late Frances Cummings of Hanover. He was the owner and operator of Gene’s Valet Service throughout the South Shore community for 45 years. An avid square dancer, he traveled extensively throughout the country. He and his wife assisted in running a square and round dance convention in Bermuda for 15 years.

He leaves two nephews John A. Manning of Hingham, Robert Cummings of Norwell and three nieces, Dianne Ward of Mashpee, Judith Ann Manning of Louisville, KY and Michelle Bailey of Hanover. Also survived by many great nieces and great nephews. Gene was a loving husband, a fun uncle known as “Uncle T”, a great friend to many and a wonderful neighbor.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 8 AM on Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Albert the Great Church, Weymouth at 9 AM. Burial at a later date.
