McLaughlin, Eugene F. “Gene” of Charlestown, died on  March 1, 2014, surrounded by his family. 

Father of Michael McLaughlin of Newton, Susan Smyth of Ramsey, NJ, Judi O’Day of Weymouth, Thomas  McLaughlin and his wife Marylyn of Morristown, NJ, and Gene  McLaughlin of Taunton. Brother of  Mary Wool of South Boston, Ronald McLaughlin of Arizona and the late Paul, Francis and Larry McLaughlin.  He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Eugene grew up in Cambridge. He served in the United States Navy during W.W.II. He moved to Quincy where he raised his family. Gene worked as a machinist for Comstock & Wescott for many years. After his retirement he moved to Charlestown Navy yard where he truly enjoyed the his view of the ocean. He also enjoyed following Boston’s sports teams especially the Red Sox. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his devotion to his family. He will be sadly missed.  

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday 3-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY, followed by a Funeral Service on Monday evening at 7pm.

Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers,  donations in memory of Eugene may be made to The Jimmy Fund c/o Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
