Eugene D. Tavares

Tavares, Eugene D. of Hanover, formerly of Falmouth and Taunton, died March 20, 2018. He was 80.

Gene proudly served in the US Air Force and went on to have a successful career of over 25 years as an oiler with Local #4. He was an avid fisherman and could often be found tinkering in his yard, but he probably bumped into you while mall walking. Gene was devoted to his family and will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor.

Beloved husband of 52 years to Carolyn (Carreiro) Tavares of Hanover. Devoted father of Michael Tavares and his wife Kristina of Weymouth and Carla Strange and her husband Brian of Tyngsboro. Cherished Vavu of Olivia and Scott. Son of the late Frank M. and Georgina Tavares. Loving brother of Mary Ann Tavares of VA and the late Thomas and Herbert Tavares. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 5-9 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Jerome Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Connery Avenue, Bourne on Tuesday at 1:15 PM.
