Eugene D. Crowley

Crowley, Eugene D. of Hingham died peacefully on June 22, 2015. He was 81.

Born in Worcester, Gene was the son of the late Eleanor L. and Eugene D. Crowley. Beloved partner and soul mate of Jill Parker of Hingham.  Loving father of Joyce Gannon and her husband Joseph of Londonderry, NH, Elizabeth Blaho of Panama City, FL and Karen O’Donnell and her husband Matthew of Gardner, MA. Loving brother of Joyce Crowley Flynn and her husband George of Essex, CT. Cherished grandfather of Michael Gannon and his wife Alicia, Jessica, Blake, and Samantha Gannon, Kevin Drake, Kendell Witner and her husband Steve, James and Jennifer O’Donnell. Cherished great grandfather of Lincoln and Luana Witner. He also leaves behind Brooks, Cynthia, Jaxon and Casey Parker of Medfield, Christian, Karyn, Emma and Grace Parker of Acton, Cole Parker and Holley Almeida of Weymouth, plus so many dear friends.

Gene graduated from the New York Military Academy in 1953, attended Norwich University and graduated from the University of Georgia. He then served in the U.S. Army National Guard as a Second Lieutenant and Tank Commander. Gene was a very proud friend of Bill W’s for over 34 years, where he helped so many.

Gene worked for many years in the insurance industry, for companies such as The Hartford, John C. Paige, Crowne Life, William Mahoney Associates and American National.  He also enjoyed his post retirement years working at Jos. A Bank in Hingham. He was the consummate gentleman and a true warrior.

The family wants to express their utmost appreciation for the many years of superior care he received at Mass General Hospital. In particular to the following physicians who took such care of him: Dr. John Godine, Dr. Paul Huang, Dr. Jerry Younger and Dr. Lucy Young.

Relatives and friends are respectively invited to attend visiting hours Thursday 4-8 in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, 40 Sea St, (off RT.3A-Bicknell Sq.) North Weymouth.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 9:45 in the funeral home prior to the Funeral Mass on Friday at 11:30 in St. Paul’s Church, 147 North St., Hingham.  Burial will be private.
