Fergusson, Ernest S. “Fergie” age 85, of Hingham died on Thursday, November 29, 2007 after a lengthy illness. Beloved husband of Jessie E. (Murphy) Fergusson of Hingham. Devoted father of Barbara J. “Babs” Fergusson of Hull, and Janet A. (Fergusson) Allen of Whitman. Cherished grandfather of Angelina M. Conti of Marshfield and Emily R. Allen of Whitman and great grandfather of Trinity L. Ringquist of Marshfield. Affectionately known as “Fergie” to his friends, he was born on June 22, 1922, in Boston, MA. After retiring from 20 years of employment as an Insurance Agent with the John Hancock Insurance Company, he started his own company, Fergusson Insurance Agency, Inc. in Hull, MA. Fergie was an avid boater and had a strong interest in genealogy. Very proud of his Scottish heritage, he was the former New England Representative for the Clan Fergusson of North America. He was also very active in volunteer work for the Hingham Senior Center. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, and served as Faithful Navigator of the Richard Cardinal Cushing General Assembly. Mr. Fergusson was a highly decorated World War II Veteran. He received the Purple Heart, two Bronze Stars with the Valor Designation, and the E.T.O. with five Battle Stars, among his many other medals. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St., HINGHAM, Tuesday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint Paul’s Church, Hingham at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours Monday 4 – 8 PM. Burial in Saint Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham.
