Minelli, Jr. Ernest of Hanson, formerly of Hull, passed away October 24, 2011. Beloved husband of Noreen J. Fahey-Minelli of Hanson and the late Gertrude (Carty) Minelli. Father of Edward Minelli and Ernest Minelli, III, both of Hull. Step-father of Deborah Colby of Maine, Kim Ahern of Hingham, and Erin Fahey of Whitman. Brother of the late Eleanor Emanuello and John Minelli. Also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Minelli was the owner/operator for Ernest Minelli, Inc. in Hull. A well-known man, Ernest loved his community and was very involved in many charitable endeavors. He served as a member of the Board of Directors at South Shore Hospital for 17 years, as a Director of Construction Industries of Massachusetts, and as one of three co-founders of the Hull Cooperative Bank, later serving as President of the bank. Ernest also maintained active involvement in the Hull Lions Club and the 100 Club of Hull. In April of this year, he was honored as the first recipient of the Hull Hero Award. An avid outdoorsman, Ernest enjoyed hunting for elk, deer, and wild boar throughout New England. He was a longtime member of the Veterans’ Boxers Association, Ring 4 Hall of Fame. Ernest was also a proud World War II veteran, serving as a Sergeant in the United States Army. Throughout his life, Mr. Minelli donated his time and talents to many charitable and community-based organizations, and he took great joy in helping people and the causes that were dear to them. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Friday from 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:45 a.m. Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Parish at St. Ann’s Church, Hull at 10:30 AM. Burial in Hull Village Cemetery. Donations in Ernest’s name may be made to the Sunset Point Camp, Catholic Charities, 185 Columbia Road, Dorchester, MA 02121.
