Emidio “Chris” Giancristiano

Emidio “Chris” Giancristiano, age 93, passed away on January 4th in Norwell. He was born in East Boston in 1924 to Michele and Ida (Croll) Giancristiano. He leaves a daughter Karen Miranda and her husband Lawrence of Weymouth, and a son Thomas and his wife Mary Watson of Dennis. He leaves a granddaughter Alexis Coleman and her husband Kevin, a grandson Stefan and great grandson Andrew Coleman, all of Weymouth. He leaves his brother Alfred of CA and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves the family of his longtime partner, Ann Linscott who predeceased him. He is also predeceased by three sisters Louise Pagliarulo, Rose Cresta and Doris Mortellite.

Chris grew up in East Boston and Wakefield. In his late teens he worked as a turret lathe operator at the Precision Tool and Die Company. During WWII he served in the US Army from 1943-1946 earning the Good Conduct Medal; a Theater Campaign Ribbon; the European-African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon and the Victory Medal. He was stationed in Northern France, the Rhinelands and central Europe. During that time he served the 740th Field Artillery Battalion for 18 months. His positions included tank destroyer basic, cannoneer, machine gunner and military policeman in the occupied territory. His last position was Private First Class. He retired in 1986 from the City of Boston after working over 30 years.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday, March 18, 2018 from 1-4 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Family and friends will gather for a committal service with military honors on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 10:45 AM in the National Veterans Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Old Colony Hospice, 321 Manley St., West Bridgewater, MA 02379.
