Elvira “Vera” Virta

Virta, Elvira F. (Luciano) “Vera” of Weymouth died peacefully on November 17, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving family. Vera was born, raised, and educated in Weymouth. She resided in her family home on Middle Street from birth until 2010 when she moved to Plymouth to live with her daughter. The family home was a staple in the history of the Luciano family. Vera opened her doors to family and friends, loved cooking for all, and sharing stories and photographs.  Especially enjoyable for her was visiting with her sisters for the Monday afternoon poker game, trips to casinos, and the time she spent with her family.

Vera was predeceased by her beloved husband Toivo E. Virta and baby daughter Joyce Elaine Virta. Loving mother to Steve Virta and his wife Nancy of Marshfield and Pati Delano and her husband Daryl of Plymouth. Devoted Sister to Evelyn Tassinari of Braintree and the late Lydia, Frank, Margaret, Anthony, Louise, Eva, and Alexander. Vera was the cherished grandmother of five and great grandmother of eight. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Vera will be private. Donations in memory of Elvira may be made to Hospice of the South Shore, 30 Reservoir Park Dr., Rockland, MA 02370.
